Coaching: A Transitions in Leadership Seminar

Transition To Supervision (I)
Strategies and skills for supervisor and team leader development

"It is easier to be "fired" by those below you than those above. When they fail, you fail; when they succeed, you succeed."

The role of supervisor is to act as a liaison between management and staff and to ensure that work is completed timely and efficiently. Success depends on the success of others.

Learn practical management techniques in an open forum. The following list is typical of participant issues addressed in Transition to Supervision.

What should a supervisor do in each of these situations?

First-line Supervisors need to trust and be trusted. Supervision is a unique position between two levels that requires good communication and empathy skills as well as job knowledge. A supervisor's ability to develop rapport, maintain professional relationships and establish a professional image can enhance or destroy a promising career. By sharing and Coaching from others who have held the post-- as well as those seeking advancement--supervisors return from this seminar with a plan and greater confidence.

SEMINAR PREPARATION

As participants share their own experiences and learn new management techniques, the group offers additional insights and options. Potential supervisors benefit from listening to the situations and exploring their own reactions, and evaluation the commentary from others. By exploring practical alternative solutions to resolve actual supervision issues, each participant gains a wealth of information to draw from when making decisions on future events.
